James is the fastest ever Irishman, north or south, at 600, 800, and 1000 metres. He is also widely recognised as Britain’s top middle-distance runner for a decade during the 2000’s and the 3rd fastest Briton of all-time over 1000 metres (behind Sebastian Coe and Steve Cram). He has competed at the highest level of his sport including Olympic games, Commonwealth Games and European Championships and has 5 British titles to his name. During remarkable career he competed aganst and trained with some of the biggest names in world sport. He was roommates with Sir Mo Farah CBE and trained regularly with Dame Kelly Holmes, Sonya Sullivan and Moses Kiptanui to name but a few. It is this network that is helped James, as race organiser, transform the Larne Half Marathon into onw of the most popular anywhere in the UK and Ireland. Awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to athletics in Northern Ireland, James will share stories and performance insights from a career that has included multiple titles, heart-breaking injuries, longstanding records and transferring of national allegiances!
